About

Kuwait Sailing School is an RYA-affiliated Centre (RYA- Royal Yacht Association) provides sailing courses for both youth and adults in a safe environment.

In addition to sailing, we offer a range of non-motorized watersports activities including windsurfing, kayaking, and standup paddling.

We started as freelancers teaching sailing in different watersports centers and privately in chalets in 2019 and only in December 2020, we decided to run our own sailing school.

Today we pride ourselves on having created a sailing community in the country and our aim is always to offer training courses and family experiences. The centre is run by Shayma who is a full-time dedicated RYA Dinghy instructor and she is always assisted by a trained watersport staff!

I've been sailing since I was 8 on an Optimist. I attended several National Championships in Venezuela. I won the 2nd place overall and 1st on the female division on the Optimist class.

From 1998 until 2000 sailed on the sunfish class only at national level obtaining 1st place in female division and overall 6th place.

From 2000 end until 2005 sailed on Laser Radial & was part of the Venezuela national team where I've attended several championships.

Since I have gradutaed and moved to Kuwait in 2009 I have not sailed much. I am so happy that I have found Kuwait Sailing School and I am more than happy to take you all out to try and learn sailing.

I started sailing in the summer of 2020 and have gone through all of my qualifications with the Kuwait Sailing School. I love sailing because it is enjoyable to do alone or with a group, it is extremely relaxing and is a sport that you can continue to learn about. I love all water sports and have grown up doing all sorts such as scuba diving, wakeboarding, paddle boarding, and swimming. I would love to continue to add to my knowledge on sailing and share my love of the sport with as many people as possible. I am volunteering at Kuwait Sailing School as it gives me the opportunity to pursue this.

I was 8 years old when I started sailing, and I found it very thrilling to be out at sea. I enjoyed it a lot so I continued with the courses. I am working towards being an assistant instructor, and when old enough, to be a certified instructor. I enjoy teaching others how fun sailing can be.

I also enjoy scuba diving and windsurfing.

I fell in love with sailing the moment I sailed my first dinghy in 2021. I have been sailing every weekend since then and I have completed all my dinghy sailing levels.

I am a certified scuba diver and free diver. I participated in dragon boat regattas in UAE for 3 years and dream of participating in international sailing regattas one day soon.

I believe that volunteering is the best way of giving back while progressing my sailing experience towards becoming an instructor and meeting like-minded people.

I tried Sailing in 2019 and immediately loved it. Sailing is now one of my favourite hobbies besides reading, basketball, coding, and programming. After completing all the school youth sailing courses I started volunteering to continue learning my helping others to learn and my dream is to be able to join a national race team.
